American whiskey brands have to classify single malt whiskey under others, such as ‘whiskey distilled from a malt mash’ (matured in used oak barrel) or ‘malt whiskey’ (matured in new oak barrel). 

Taking all this into consideration, the sales volume of whiskey in 2020 was 73 million 9 liter cases.

1. Cask Strength

What took birth from the premiumization movement is soon going to become the preference. Cask strength is all about the flavor, aroma, and everything nice about whiskey served as is. 2. Store Pick Single Barrels

We’re talking about the special whiskeys here that are picked out by clubs and retailers as one-off bottlings. These are easier to get hands-on than the ones that are driving the secondary market. Numerous people are looking for the store to pick single barrel whiskeys because they’re available and offer individualism.

In 1897 the Bottled-in-Bond Act was created, which led to the birth and popularity of this style in 2021. According to the law, a BiB spirit would have to be made during the distillation season only by one distillery in the same premises, aged for at least four years in a supervised warehouse. After this, it will be bottled at 100 proof. Now, although the purpose of creating the law might be created to address mistrust among customers, BiB style today reflects great value monetarily and taste-wise. Plus, transparency always wins customers’ hearts!

5. Blended Whiskeys

We can’t end this list without talking about one of the best whiskey trends of 2021. The reason we’re saying this is because our fellow Americans have finally disassociated the words blended whiskeys with low-quality drinks. People have become far more aware of the process that’s followed to create their drink and how blending and maturing the spirit can create various whiskeys. 

Today, you’ll find combinations like bourbon, rye, malt, and wheat or even blends of finished like Amontillado sherry, Oloroso sherry, Tawny Port, and Ruby port with American oak. 

6. The Hardcore Fans

The customers who would drive miles, wait in lines, and spend an insane amount just the get their hands on a certain bottle of whiskey are known as taters. In simple words, the hardcore appreciators of whiskey. We’ve all come across at least one person who is like this in our lives. We owe this whiskey trend to them! The group of people has largely affected the pricing of whiskeys, although not across the board. With the help of taters, retailers had the chance to spike their prices, some reaching the standards of the secondary market.
